Self-Closing Jam Jar (Frictionless Coating?)

A popular meme online shows the below self-closing lid on a Japanese brand Jam Jar.

Some online users have suggested temperature differentials and resulting pressure differentials as the possible cause.

But no one really seems to know why.

But such an effect could easily be achieved with a frictionless coating such as the one below, which are becoming increasingly common.

After all, the only thing that normally prevents gravity from pulling the lid down is friction between Lid and Jar.

The inertial resistance would be minimal, both vertical and rotational.

The problem is simply a variation of the frictionless nut question, a vertical acceleration causing a rotational acceleration and vice versa.
