Never buy Amazon Fire TV

Amazon Fire TV runs on a proprietary Android system that forces you to watch Amazon ads, and there's absolutely no way to customize or disable them.

Even if you have the tech skills to install a custom launcher such as the one below, Amazon keeps releasing software updates that blocks them and forces you back into watching the ads.

Your only option is to either jailbreak the device and risk losing it altogether, or disable online features and use the device as "dumb" TV with external casting devices.
